Dog Waste Station Etiquette
Posted on Jun 22nd, 2017

There is an increasing issue with the dog waste station at the corner of Woodhaven Drive and Castle Creek Drive overflowing.  When the station was first noted to be overflowing, the frequency of maintenance was increased to once per week.  As the receptacle has been emptied and bags replenished on a weekly basis for a month now, it became apparent this week that the receptacle is filling up at an even quicker rate, as in every 4-5 days.  It is evidently used by nonresident walking traffic on the street, in addition to community members.

This will be resolved by the installation of a second waste station in the proximity, since it appears to be a highly trafficked area and potentially the most popular path with dog walkers.

*However, this issue can also be minimized with practical sense and etiquette.*  If you are on a walk and see that the waste station is full,  do not toss a bag of dog waste onto the top of the full can or on the ground around its base, so that it overflows.   Please keep the bag with you until you reach your residence garbage can or another waste station on your walk, if the waste station nearest you is full.  As this is the first season there have been collection cans attached to the dog waste stations provided in the community, we appreciate your patience while we work to get the maintenance schedule and location of the stations set up for success.
